OLDTIMER
Whether you know it or not California has some history to it, buildings that date back to the start of our country and a culture before texting, ipads and fake everything. I got to visit Mission San Juan Capistrano not too long ago.  One of the best things about having kids is getting to tag along on field trips, so take my advice, have some kids and go on field trips.

ROCK BAND
Get out of the house and enjoy some friends and live music once in a while. Enjoyed some Tuesday night Madness, maybe a little too much madness for a 5:30 wake up call but nothing a couple or 5 cups of coffee cant fix.

CALI DESIGN
I don’t know much about design but I do know that when I see a piece of Eames furniture that I look at it like a piece of art. Enjoyed Pacific Standard Time at LACMA the other day, amazed at the creativity and complexity of seemingly simple design and I also wondered why my house doesn’t look like the Eames home.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK
You ever need time to yourself?? Some peace and quiet to think about things. Maybe some time to just forgot about your troubles and zone out?? I have the solution….drive around all day and call it work.  Just keep your eyes open, you never know what you’ll see.

LACMA
What is the reaction of walking around an art gallery that you have to go silent and start whispering. Spent the day at LACMA whispering, soaking in all the art and thinking that everyone needs to have an art day once in a while.

MOVING FORWARD
Posted in MOBTHE365: One year, 365 days…365 pictures. It was January 31 and I committed to taking at least one picture a day for a year and thus, 365 was born. It was something that I had always wanted to do and after life got complicated and my world changed, I felt that the time was now. So the obvious question…why take one picture a day for a year?????? I started 365 because I had lost my...

COUNTDOWN
Two weeks to go, 14 more pictures, and the labor of love known as 365 will come to an end. Having mixed emotions with this coming to an end but for now, feel free to look through 351 pics to catch up.

2 YEARS AND COUNTING
2 years ago today Haiti was hit with a devastating earthquake that left millions displaced and crippled an already fragile economy.  I had the opportunity to visit Haiti this past summer and in some places the earthquake might as well have been yesterday. Millions still living in tent cities, few jobs, and millions in aid tied up in bureaucracy. Here’s to the people trying to find hope and a...

NOT LOST & FOUND
Always makes for a good day when walking in Downtown LA and you find a bright new art piece among all the grey.  Today’s art find is provided by Buff Monster, so next time you’re making your way to the rooftop bar at The Standard, the art starts outside.

UN-BURIED
2012 is here and it’s not looking back but Last week I found myself still buried in 2011 and had nothing to show for it on this blog. So let’s pretend it’s the first of the year shall we….The Madness traveling circus headed up the mountain to spend a couple of days in the snow with our friends, who you’ll hear more about later, they’ll need their own post. Start...

BLOCKS
Had a change of plans today and found myself in downtown with no car to get me home. What to do??? I did what anyone in my shoes would have done…Walk the few blocks to the train station and snap off some pics along the way and in case you’re wondering, I did make it home, just in time for the sunset.

BRANDI & SARA
brandi/sara, sara/brandi, sarandi, brara, however you want to say it, these two are inseparable. These two peas in a pod were a blast to shoot today and like the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

STAR WARS
The very first movie that I remember seeing was the Empire Strikes Back. I remember my parents taking me to the drive-in theater in San Bernardino, I was 5 years old and was asleep half way through the movie, what did I know, I was 5.  31 years later things come full circle as I took my kids to see the Star Wars exhibit and they probably fell asleep halfway through the story of my first movie...

LIGHTS OUT
After spending my half my life in the IE, I never made my way to see the Christmas lights that are at the Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside until this past weekend.  Here’s some pics to save you the trip.

SARA
Went to see our old friend Sara tonight, she was having an art show benefiting a move she is making to Zimbabwe.  That’s right, she’s putting everything she knows on hold to follow her heart and passion to work with orphans in Africa.  Why do we find her so inspiring…..she’s willing to follow her passions, hopes, heart, and dreams not knowing what lies ahead. ...

LOS MUNOZ
When a kid ask you if the chocolate is fair trade chocolate, the mom works with Abeni, and the dad has made and fed 200 homeless people pretty much by himself , you know you have something special. Meet the Munoz clan, thinking globally and acting locally and best of all, we get to call them our friends.  I had the chance to snap some pics of this awesome family and in case you’re asking...

UN-OCCUPIED
I first chronicled Occupy LA here. The events of the past week have made the place look a lot different. City Hall is barricaded, fenced, and surrounded by the LAPD. It brings to mine a lot of questions, did Occupy LA succeed in what they were trying to accomplish, did they get their point across, did they get people to listen to that point, did they make any type of difference??? Agree or...

DOG WHISPERING
Have you ever seen those photos with tough looking people holding the leash of a tough looking dog, some pit bull with a spiked collar and an owner with tats. Well, this was the exact opposite of that.

JASON & POPPY
If I told you a story about a guy and a girl that went to high school together and really didn’t know each other, then went to the same small private college but still didn’t know each other. Then they got set up by a mutual friend 16 years later, fell in love and are now engaged. Sounds like a Hallmark movie right??? Timing is everything

PASSING
People pass through our lives all the time. Some actually stick around, some simply pass through, some remember you, some forget, and some could care less.  Then there are those that become part of your life, they inspire, challenge, encourage, and believe in you and most importantly, they act like Thursday never ended.

ROSEY
Was meaning to post this yesterday but Madness HQ was in full madness mode. Spent Saturday at the Rose Bowl, mainly admiring the clouds and reflecting on a conversation I had on Friday with an old friend, then I came across this quote by T.S. Eliot…Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go…challenge accepted. \

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
Sometimes we need a reminder to what an opportunity we have in life, to recognize the beauty and opportunities that surround us everyday.  I think there’s something different for all of us, for some it’s art, music, poetry, or photography, for some it’s  relationships, a phone call, email or text, and for some us it has to be spelled out on a side of a building with storm...

WEDDING BELLS
This past weekend I had the amazing privilege of being a part of a wedding for two amazing people. We have laughed together, cried together, traveled the world together, and have seen them grow into two amazing individuals. We are proud to have been a part of their lives and their special day and look forward to the future that they have in front of them. Adam and Jo…we love and are...

NEXT
Went to check out the next generation and my young homie Jake. You’ve seen him on here before and tonight he had his first photo show at BTNC.  It was an excellent night with all his friends and family coming through, BTNC doing a great job with the hosting, and Jake’s proud parents talking about their son. To see a kid realize what he loves to do and get a chance to showcase his work,...
